The Older I Get!

The older I get the more I am beginning to think that most people, that is the masses don't really think very well. They seem to operate more on emotions, ego, and impulses.

It's a common observation that many people tend to react based on emotions, ego, and impulses rather than through deliberate and rational thinking. This phenomenon is often attributed to several factors:

1. Cognitive Biases: Human brains are wired with various cognitive biases that can distort thinking. These biases can lead people to make decisions based on incomplete information or flawed reasoning.

2. Emotional Influence: Emotions play a significant role in decision-making. While emotions can provide valuable information and motivation, they can also cloud judgment and lead to impulsive actions.

3. Social Influence: People are often influenced by the behavior and opinions of others. This can lead to conformity and groupthink, where individuals may not critically evaluate ideas or decisions independently.

4. Lack of Critical Thinking Skills: Not everyone has been trained or encouraged to develop strong critical thinking skills. Education systems and cultural environments vary widely in how much they emphasize and teach these skills.

5. Information Overload: In the digital age, people are bombarded with information. This can make it challenging to sift through data and think critically about what is true or important.

6. Cognitive Effort: Rational thinking requires effort and energy. In many situations, people rely on heuristics or mental shortcuts to make decisions quickly, which can sometimes lead to less optimal outcomes.

While these tendencies are common, it's important to recognize that everyone has the capacity to think critically and make reasoned decisions. Encouraging education, promoting emotional intelligence, and fostering environments that value rational discourse can help individuals and societies make more thoughtful decisions.
